Projects and Opportunities
Someone with disabilities may just need an extra pair of hands to get things done or he may be looking for someone who would become a special friend. Your involvement can make that person feel like he is part of your/his community; can save hundreds of dollars that persons with disabilities would have to spend on yard work, painting, and other kinds of routine upkeep; and can bring warmth and happiness into someone’s life.Examples of projects are:
Painting the interior rooms of a house—bedrooms, hallways, etc.
Sealing or staining ramps and decks
Yardwork: mulching, weeding, trimming bushes, raking leaves, planting flowers
Washing the inside and outside windows of a home
Throwing a theme based party or hosting a barbeque
Playing games, reading together or working on a craft project with an individual
or with all of the residents at a group home or at a day program
Driving someone to and from an appointment
